Weekly Update May 29

Congratulations to the Band for their performance on Wednesday at Evening of the Arts. They did very well despite the cold.


ELA—Two Reader Responses for June are due June 17. We have been working on our Poetry Unit and the students are currently writing their Poetry Anthology which was given an extension and is due, Monday May 30. The students will present a few of their poems and will have a gallery for all to see their works. In June we will focus on Literature Circles for two short novels with final projects for each. A permission slip will be coming home in the next couple of weeks for our last unit which is cross curricular dealing with Sex Education.

Math--Grade 7s have completed Ch. 10 on Patterns and Expressions and should have brought their test home for signing over the weekend. They start Ch. 11 on Linear Expressions and Equations on Monday. Grade 8s wrote their tests on Friday for Ch. 10, Solving Linear Equations. They will start Chapter 11 on Probability on Monday.

Social Studies—The students are continuing to present their games, essays and trivia that they creating from their research on societies within Europe and the Americas.

Science—We have completed experiments on strengthening spaghetti bridges and have now begun the final project.

French--We continued to work on our French yearbook to review our year's work.

Weekly Update May 19

ELA—Four Reader Responses for May are due May 27. Final copies for the Creative Writing Story were due today and the students will be presenting them next week. We have been working on our Poetry Unit and the students are currently writing their Poetry Anthology. It will be due May 27.

Math--Grade 7s are completing Ch. 10 on Patterns and Expressions and will have a test early next week. Grade 8s are working on Ch. 10, Solving Linear Equations with a test later next week.

Social Studies—The students are looking at societies within Europe and the Americas and at the history of their cultures and presenting their projects on their research.

Science—We have completed experiments on strengthening spaghetti bridges and continue to work on strengthening and stabilizing structures.

French--We started our French yearbook to review our year's work.

Weekly Update May 13

Congratulations to the Grades 6—8 band for their great performance on Thursday with MBCI Grade 9 Band. Well done!


ELA—Four Reader Responses for May are due May 27. The students have been conferencing with me on another Creative Writing Story this week. Final copies will be due next week. We have been working on our Poetry Unit and the students are currently writing their Poetry Anthology. It will be due May 27.

Math--Grade 7s have started Ch. 10 on Patterns and Expressions. They are bringing home math tests for signing over the weekend. Grade 8s are working on Ch. 10, Solving Linear Equations. They are bringing home tests for signing over the weekend.

Social Studies—The students are looking at societies within Europe and the Americas and at the history of their cultures.

Science—We have finished looking at forced exerted on structures and have moved on to strengthening and stabilizing structures. We will be conducting an experiment on Monday.

French--We worked on various French vocabulary and grammar.

Weekly Update May 6

Happy Mother’s Day!!


You all should have received invitations for the Volunteer Lunch on May 19. Please RSVP as soon as possible.

ELA—Four Reader Responses for May are due May 27. The students have been working on another Creative Writing Story this week. Rough Drafts are due on Monday and I will be conferencing with each of them and editing during next week. We will finally be starting a poetry unit this week.

Math--Grade 7s are completing Ch. 9 on Integers and will be tested next week. Grade 8s are completing Linear Relationships in Ch. 9 and will be tested next week.

Social Studies—The students have been discussing the political parties in Canada. They have talked about the promises by parties and what the students agree and don’t agree with.

Science—We continued working on internal and external forces on structures, using the Tower of Pisa as a case study. We will be working on reinforcing stability next.

French--We finished our food study.

Weekly Update May 2

Merry Christmas!!! Ooppss!! Happy May!!


Thank you to all the parents and students who helped to make our Spring Tea a big success. It was great to see such a large group working together.

The students participated today in Music Monday. The Gr. 6-8 Band played the song "Tomorrow is Coming" by Luke Doucette and the entire school sang the song outside at 11:45.

ELA—Four Reader Responses for May are due May 27. The students completed a creation of their own flower species for the Spring Tea. They will be put on the bulletin board for display during Evening of the Arts. We will be starting a poetry unit this week as well as another Creative Writing Story. We are also preparing skits for our chapel presentation.

Math--Grade 7s started Ch. 9 on Integers. Grade 8s started Linear Relationships in Ch. 9.

French--We continued to work on our Food Study and also did a bit of vocabulary work on Easter words.
