Weekly Update June 26

Hooray!!! It's finally here!! Graduation and the last week of school! Have a safe and happy summer!


ELA—Students have completed both novel studies on Firegirl and Old Yeller as well as their final project. This week we will be continuing to complete our cross curricular unit dealing with Sex Education as well as our last religion lessons. On June 30 in the morning I will be showing Old Yeller as the end of year movie!! Sad movie for a sad day!

Math--Both classes have completed their math curriculum for the year. During Math class until the end of the year we will be completing our religion curriculum and health unit.

Social Studies—one class this week on Tuesday

Science—We will finish our research on Canadian Contributions to science. Presentations are due on June 22nd and we will complete the presentations in our remaining class time.

French--We finished our French yearbook.

There will be no more band for the rest of the year!!!

Weekly Update June 17

Our classroom is Humid & Hot! Please encourage your children to dress accordingly....shorts & t-shirts (no hoodies, please!)!!


ELA—Two Reader Responses for June were due June 17 (today). Students have completed one novel and are working on completing their second Literature Circle and Novel Study. This will be due on June 22 with a final project due on June 23. A permission slip was sent home for our last unit which is cross curricular dealing with Sex Education. It was due today, June 17.

Math--Grade 7s are completing Ch. 12 on Median, Mode and Means. They will write their test on Tuesday. Grade 8s have completed Chapter 12 on Tessellations. During Math class until the end of the year we will be completing our religion curriculum and health unit.

Social Studies—The students have been mapping and looking at more developed countries.

Science—We will finish our research on Canadian Contributions to science. Presentations are due on June 22nd and we will complete the presentations in our remaining class time.

French--We finished our French yearbook.

Weekly Update June 10

Congratulations to the Gr. 2-4 Violin Players! The will be seen on CBC News tonight at 6:00 following the sports broadcast.


ELA—Two Reader Responses for June are due June 17. Students are completing either Old Yeller or Firegirl on Monday and will be handing in their Literature Circle Positions and Chapter Questions. They will switch novels on Monday and do a Literature Circle and Chapter Questions on the opposite novel from what they completed. A permission slip was sent home this week for our last unit which is cross curricular dealing with Sex Education. Please have it handed in for Friday, June 17.

Math--Grade 7s started Ch. 12 on Median, Mode and Means. Grade 8s are completing Chapter 12 on Tessellations and will complete a final project/test next week.

Social Studies—The students have been looking at ecosystems and how population density is influenced by the climate.

Science—We concluded classwork on the structures project. The report is due June 15th and the poster and prototype is due June 17th. Other classes will be invited to view the projects during our science class that day. A project on Canadian contributions to science will be due on June 22nd. We will begin that on Monday.

French--We continued to work on our French yearbook to review our year's work.

Weekly Update June 3

Welcome Summer!


ELA—Two Reader Responses for June are due June 17. Students presented, handed in, and peer evaluated their Poetry Anthologies. They have been assessed and returned to students. The students have started reading either Old Yeller or Firegirl and will be working in Literature Circles to complete the novel including novel questions and a final project. A permission slip will be coming home in the next couple of weeks for our last unit which is cross curricular dealing with Sex Education.

Math--Grade 7s are working on Ch. 11 on Linear Expressions and Equations. They will have a test next week. Grade 8s are completing Chapter 11 on Probability and will have a test on Monday. One more chapter to go for both grades!!!

Social Studies—The students began looking at different ecosystems around the world

Science—We are continuing our final project for structures until the end of next week.

French--We continued to work on our French yearbook to review our year's work.
