Weekly Update January 26, 2013

CLWR--January Collection--one small, simple toy (new, that does not require batteries)


Rehimet--Compassion Canada $1.00/month

Camp--Commitment Form and Permission Slip went home last Monday. Permission Form and deposit are due January 31.

Registration for 2013-1014--Registration Forms and Fee are due February 1.  It is important to have your registration in for planning purposes for next year.

ELA--We are finishing up our Short Stories Unit, Let Me Tell You, and completing a creative story to go with the Munsch Play.

Math--Gr. 7--Students began Ch. 7--More Fraction Operations.

Math--Gr. 8--Students will complete Ch. 6--Fraction Operations (Multiplying and Dividing Fractions) and have a test this week.

Social Studies--Students began Ch. 4 on Human Development--The Value of Life.

Weekly Update January 20, 2013

CLWR--January Collection--one small, simple toy (new, that does not require batteries)

Camp--Commitment Form and Permission Slip goes home Monday with a deposit to be made by the end of January.

ELA--We will be finishing up our Short Stories Unit, Let Me Tell You, from before Christmas and working on some activities to go with the Munsch Play on Thursday.

Math--Gr. 7--Students will be writing their test for Ch. 6--Introduction to Fraction Operations on Monday and starting Ch. 7--More Fraction Operations.

Math--Gr. 8--Students are working on Ch. 6--Fraction Operations (Multiplying and Dividing Fractions) this week and should complete it by the end of the week.


Social Studies--Students have completed Ch. 3 on Interaction and have a test on Monday.

French--Test on Monday.

Weekly Update--January 13, 2013

During the month of January, we are collecting one small, simple toy (new, that does not require batteries) for our Learning and Living Kits that we are putting together for CLWR (Canadian Lutheran World Relief).

Please also remember Rehimet, our Compassion Canada sponsor child. We would like to collect $1.00/month from the students. If it is easier to bring it as one lump sum, please do so.

Camp--Information will be sent out this week. For planning purposes the dates are June 17-19. Camp will be at Luther Village, near Kenora, ON. I am finalizing some costs in regards to chaperones and drivers/transportation.

ELA--Final Projects on Miracle on Maple Hill are due on Thursday.  We will be going to MTYP on Thursday morning to see The Big League.  We will be finishing up our Short Stories Unit from before Christmas.

Math--Gr. 7--Students are working on Ch. 6 Introduction to Fraction Operations (Adding and Subtracting Fractions) this week.

Math--Gr. 8--Students are working on Ch. 6--Fraction Operations (Multiplying and Dividing Fractions) this week.

Social Studies--Students will be completing Ch. 3 on Interaction.

Weekly Update January 7, 2013

Happy New Year!

Thank you so much for all of the Christmas gifts that I received. Your thoughtfulness was very much appreciated. I hope all of you had a restful holiday.


Thank-you to the Demetrioff's for delivering our classroom hamper on Dec. 18 and for everyone's contributions to the hamper.

Math--Gr. 8--Students completed Ch. 5--Surface Area before the break and will bring home their tests for signing tomorrow.  They will start Ch. 6--Fraction Operations (Multiplying and Dividing Fractions) this week.

Social Studies--Students will continue Ch. 3 on Interaction.
