Weekly Update--February 26, 2014

The students are Drumming this week participating in the Artists in the School Program.

ELA--Students are completing our Olympics Unit this week.  The students have completed book 1 of 5 with the novel studies for the Forest of Reading Books/Competition. Two Reader Responses are due Feb. 28. 

Math--Gr. 7--Students will start Ch. 8 next week.

Math--Gr. 8--Students will start Ch. 8 next week.


Social Studies--Students will continue their study of Greece next week.

Weekly Update--February 11, 2014

Gr. 7/8 Spirit Week Feb. 10-14
Monday--PJ Day
Tuesday--Canada Day
Wednesday--Sports Day
Thursday--Wacky Day
Friday--Favorite Story Book Character Day

I Love to Read Week--All this week students will have different teacher readers in class as well as celebrities to read to them.  Monday--Sue Proctor (Artist in the School 2013), Tuesday--Ace Burpee, Wednesday--Chapel Presentations.

ELA--Students are working on an Olympics Unit this month which will be cross curricular with Social Studies.  We will be completing five in class novel studies with the Forest of Reading Books/Competition to vote for their favorite book during February and March.  Two Reader Responses are due Feb. 28. 

Math--Gr. 7--Students have completed Ch. 7.

Math--Gr. 8--Students will complete Ch. 7--Volume, by the end of the week.


Social Studies--Students are studying Greece.  They will be doing some research on the Olympics including some mapping, history of sports and current events.

ELA--Students will be completing various units for I Love to Read Month.  The theme for I Love to Read is Inventions.  We will also be completing an Olympics Unit this month which will be cross curricular with Social Studies.  Students will be completing five in class novel studies with the Forest of Reading Books/Competition to vote for their favorite book during February and March.  Two Reader Responses are due Feb. 28. 

Math--Gr. 7--Students will complete Ch. 7--Add and Subtract Fractions this week.

Math--Gr. 8--Students will begin complete Ch. 7--Volume by the end of the week.
